Carteret Soccer Academy commences an all girls team. In speaking to Board Member Tiago Pereira, he stated the following: “I have devoted my past +10 years to Carteret in the youth development in the art of soccer. We commenced the travel division about 3 years, with the right coaches and trainers. We are currently 6 teams with approximately 90 elite players.”

How did you start looking for this team? I started this fall with training just 3 girls and looking to see who would be interested to commence an all girls team. I would sit through recreational soccer and look for girls with certain skill sets and invite them for a training session. The interest grew quickly to 7 girls, and I knew I had a girl’s team.”

How did you get the name Honey Badgers? “This was simple; I looked at some these girls and said you are like Honey Badgers. I responded to them, you fearless, thick skinned, strong, and smart and most import drive their moms crazy. They all laughed and moms agreed.”

How did you select a coach? Tiago responded; I was speaking to a few coaches and didn’t find the fit with the club and this team. Then just as recently as November 12, I had a conversation with Jasmine Kaur (aka Jassi), she was telling me about her passion for youth development, the excitement of this first all girls team. We spoke about a technical training sessions and plans about the development. We both just knew. Jassi, will be a great Head Coach of the Honey Badgers. In speaking to Jasmine Kaur, she stated the following; “I am excited to work with these ladies and commence our new journey.”

Can anyone join? Tiago responded, “we allow them to tryout any girl (DOB 2005-2008), then we evaluate mindset, commitment and synergy with the team.” For more information, call 973.220.2362
